Ep.37/ The Art Of Living with Lauren Monty

Wildness isn’t about chaos or rebelling for the sake of it. It’s deep trust, listening to that quiet pull in your chest and choosing your truth over the noise.

LISTEN NOW

Some conversations feel like a deep exhale. My chat with Lauren Monty was one of those — the kind where you realise you’ve been holding parts of yourself at arm’s length, and suddenly it’s safe to bring them home.

Lauren’s path hasn’t been a straight line. She’s swung between the airy highs of ungrounded spirituality (“I went completely the other way and had a great time, but nothing was progressing”) and the tight grip of mind-obsessed self-development (“my mind had been the controlling force in my life for longer than I’d like to admit”).

What she’s discovered — and what I can’t stop thinking about — is that wholeness lives in the weaving. The feminine and the masculine. The unseen and the practical. The soul-whispers and the action steps. It’s not one or the other, It’s about blending them so we can be in that space of creativity and nurturing, and then take inspired action.

The Body as Compass

Lauren has spent decades studying spirituality and personal growth, but only in the past two years has she been fully embodying it. “Knowing all the information and reading all the books was one thing,” she said, “but it wasn’t translating into my body. It was just information. When we actually embody it, that’s when it becomes lived, experienced wisdom.”

Her reminder hit me hard: the body isn’t just a shell. It’s a multi-dimensional guide, carrying messages in every tight shoulder, lump in the throat, or flutter in the belly. And yet, how often do we override those whispers in favour of fixing things “logically”?

Letting Go of the Performance

Part of reclaiming our wild is letting go of who we think we need to be. That means shedding identities, relationships, and habits that have kept us safe but small. It’s not about loss — it’s about making space for the parts of us we’ve been missing.

And sometimes, that means getting radically honest about the stories we’ve been carrying in our own skin. Lauren spoke openly about body shame, and how meeting herself with gentleness has been part of her reclamation.

The Art of Living Creatively

For Lauren, creative living isn’t just about art — it’s about making choices that light you up. She’s learning to follow what calls her, whether that’s building a vision for the world or finally riding a bike just because she’s always wanted to.

Her daily rituals aren’t about rigid rules, but about returning to herself: moments of stillness in nature, simple breathwork, and asking each morning, What would my wild self choose today?

Potent Takeaways to Play With

  • Spend time outside without distraction. Let your senses lead.

  • Infuse your food and water with loving words and intentions — they hold energy, and so will you.

  • Practice saying “no” without explaining yourself. Your truth doesn’t need a defence.

  • When the world gets noisy, come back to your breath and your body.

  • Remember that letting go isn’t losing — it’s coming home.

Final Thought

This episode isn’t a pep talk. It’s an invitation to stop performing and start remembering. Your wild self has been waiting under the layers, barefoot and ready to run. The only question is: will you let her out?
